Indianapolis, Indiana - On Tuesday evening, multiple children and one adult were transported to a hospital after a car crash that occurred on the east side of Indianapolis.

Incident Details

At approximately 6:15 p.m., the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of East 10th Street and North Rural Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a single vehicle that had struck a utility pole.


According to IMPD, the vehicle was occupied by seven individuals, including six children. All occupants were transported to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

Adult Victim

The adult victim is a 32-year-old male who was driving the vehicle. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Child Victims

The six child victims include:

  • A 13-year-old female with life-threatening injuries
  • A 12-year-old male with serious but non-life-threatening injuries
  • A 10-year-old female with minor injuries
  • An 8-year-old male with minor injuries
  • A 6-year-old male with minor injuries
  • A 4-year-old female with minor injuries


IMPD is actively investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary findings indicate that the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and struck the utility pole.

The intersection of East 10th Street and North Rural Street was closed for several hours while police conducted their investigation and the utility pole was repaired.
